Position Duties & Responsibilities:

• Advance Planning and Reconnaissance: Conducting site surveys of venues, mapping entry/exit points, and identifying escape routes before the VIP arrives.
• Threat and Risk Assessment: Continuously analyzing the VIP's public profile, upcoming events, and potential adversaries to evaluate the severity and likelihood of risks.
• Close Physical Protection: Maintaining a "sterile area" or protective cordon around the VIP (the "Principal") and acting as a human shield if necessary.
• Secure Transportation: Planning secure travel routes, using armored vehicles when needed, and employing defensive or evasive driving techniques.
• Access Control and Monitoring: Managing who interacts with the VIP and monitoring surroundings for suspicious behavior or unauthorized individuals using tools like CCTV and behavioral analysis.
• Emergency Response and First Aid: Providing immediate medical care, such as CPR or basic first aid, and managing evacuations during a crisis.
• Liaison and Coordination: Working with local law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and event organizers to ensure a unified safety plan.
• Privacy and Reputation Management: Safeguarding the client’s personal data, confidentiality, and public image from unauthorized leaks or harassment. 

• Discretion: Blending into the background to allow the VIP to conduct their life comfortably.
• Vigilance: Maintaining constant alertness and situational awareness at all times.
• Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence and the ability to communicate respectfully with high-profile figures and the public. 

Minimum Requirements

• Close Protection (CP) License: You must complete an accredited Close Protection course (often Level 3 or higher).
• Security Registration: Valid registration with your national security regulatory body (e.g., PSIRA Grade B or A in South Africa).
• Firearm Competency: Valid firearm license for handguns, shotguns, or carbines.
• First Aid Certification: A current First Aid Level 1-3  or specialized trauma training like TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) 

• Advanced Driving License
• Clean Criminal Record: You must pass extensive background checks and lifestyle audits
• Education: A minimum of Grade 12

• Fitness Testing: 
• Psychological Evaluation

• Field Experience:  5 years of relevant experience in security, law enforcement, or the military.
